One thing that can be said about Apple, they never stop. Every day they are looking for new services to offer their users, and Apple TV is no exception. The platform saw many changes this month and the addition of some new features.
One of those changes was aimed at the News category. With the update, it is now possible to see more news channel options in the live news category, like CNN and CNBC. It’s important to clarify however that this new update is only available on American soil. It is expected that Apple will begin to progressively adapt this option for their global users as well, but as of yet the expansion is not confirmed.
It’s important also to make a distinction between this recent “News” category update and that of the recent “Sports” category that resulted in some user issues. As this recent update was not as large of a restructuring as the sports sections recently underwent. With the function only available for the United States and for those with tvOS 11.2.5, the increased “News” section is sure to tempt Apple users to update their devices.
Those people who do not have the app installed with this new feature will receive a notification requesting direct installation from the App Store.
After installation, it’s possible to configure the various channels that you want to have easy access to, and to permanently delete those that are not to your liking, which opens up a world of options for personalizing the news streams according to the tastes and preferences of each user.
Meanwhile, we will have to wait to see if this option will be available outside of the US so users around the world also get access to this new service.
